The Writers and Illustrators of the Future contest is a longstanding and prestigious contest for new speculative fiction authors. Last year, I was thrilled to receive an Honourable Mention for my short science fiction story in Quarter 1 of the contest’s 39th year. In 2023, I am even more ecstatic to receive a Silver Honourable Mention for my short fantasy story in Quarter 1 of the 40th year. Honourable mentions are given to approximately the top 10% of the thousands of entries received each quarter from around the globe, which is especially encouraging when the quality of entries has been on the upswing since the introduction of their online course which I discovered in 2020. I am thankful to the L. Ron Hubbard foundation, Author Services, Galaxy Press, Kary English (revered First Reader), Joni Labaqui, and all those involved who continue to pay it forward and support new voices in speculative fiction.
